Our Story
At The Lather Shack Soap Co., every bar of soap is a testament to faith, resilience, and the healing grace of God. I’m Kelly Graves, a dedicated long-term care nurse from a small town in Mississippi, where my heart has always been devoted to caring for others. On May 4, 2024, my life took an unexpected turn when I suffered a stroke while working. After testing, I was diagnosed with Moyamoya, a rare and progressive brain disease affecting just 1 in a million, with my left middle carotid artery completely blocked.
Through this trial, my faith in Christ became my cornerstone. With my husband, Johnny, by my side, we leaned on prayer and God’s unwavering strength as we traveled from Mississippi to Stanford University’s Moyamoya Center in California. On August 6, 2024, I underwent life-changing brain bypass surgery, trusting in God’s guidance. His peace sustained me through recovery, inspiring me to create something meaningful that reflects His love and care.
From this journey, The Lather Shack Soap Co. was born. Guided by my faith, I handcraft small-batch soaps with natural ingredients, each bar a reminder of Christ’s renewal and the beauty of nurturing both body and soul. As a nurse and now a soapmaker, I pour my heart into every creation, striving to honor God by sharing His love through acts of care and kindness.
From our cozy Mississippi workshop, Johnny and I are building a business rooted in faith, community, and the belief that God’s grace shines through even the hardest moments. Thank you for supporting The Lather Shack Soap Co. and joining us in celebrating the healing power of Christ’s love and handcrafted care.
